Toyota Passionates: Stories That Stand the Test of Time
For many owners, a Toyota is more than just transportation. It’s a trusted companion through life’s journeys. As part of our Toyota Passionates initiative, we celebrate the stories of owners whose vehicles have become an enduring part of their families, livelihoods, and communities. These stories highlight the legendary reliability, durability, and loyalty that have defined the Toyota brand for generations.
Lennox O’Brien and His 1982 Toyota FJ45: The Vehicle That Served a Community

For over two decades, Lennox O’Brien has relied on his 1982 Toyota FJ45 to navigate the challenging hills and unpaved roads of Paramin. What initially attracted him to Toyota was the vehicle’s ability to handle the rugged terrain where he lives, a decision that has proven itself time and time again over the years.
Having owned the vehicle for 23 years, Lennox’s Toyota has become much more than a means of transportation. It has been a dependable partner in both his personal and professional life, helping him transport produce to market and supporting countless everyday activities.

Among his fondest memories are the many trips spent transporting children from the hills of Paramin to school and safely bringing them back home. Those journeys represent more than miles travelled, they reflect the vehicle’s role in supporting an entire community.
Over the years, the vehicle has undergone an engine rebuild, gearbox overhaul, and differential repairs, allowing it to remain a dependable workhorse.
His advice to anyone considering a Toyota is simple and heartfelt:
They are the best… Toyota always takes you home.
Alloy Dates and His 1999 Toyota Crown: A Legacy of Reliability

For Alloy Dates, owning a Toyota Crown was the realization of a long-held appreciation for one of Toyota’s most respected vehicles. Drawn to its legendary reliability, smooth ride, excellent suspension, availability of parts, and timeless styling, Alloy purchased his 1999 Royal Toyota Crown in 2007 and has never looked back.
One of the aspects he admires most about the Crown is its reputation. Known globally as a vehicle favoured by dignitaries and leaders, the Crown represents comfort, prestige, and engineering excellence.
Remarkably, after nearly two decades of ownership, Alloy’s Crown still retains its original engine, having accumulated approximately 461,000 miles. Aside from routine maintenance and minor repairs, including transmission, alternator, and starter work, the vehicle has required no major mechanical restoration. This longevity stands as a testament to Toyota’s engineering and Alloy’s commitment to proper care and maintenance.

When asked about his favourite memory, Alloy’s answer: the day he purchased the vehicle! It was a moment that marked the beginning of a rewarding ownership experience that continues to this day.
The Toyota Crown has played an important role in shaping his lifestyle and personal outlook, serving as a reliable companion throughout the years. And when it comes to recommending Toyota to others, Alloy is equally direct: “It’s the best vehicle purchase you can make.”
